Paul Isserles


Paul is the Director of Bernice Jacobson Day School & Camp. He oversees all programs located at BJDSC, including Camp Jacobson, year-round daycare programming, special events, and the overall facility. With 27 years of camping and youth experience, Paul spent much of his career in the JCC movement, working at the Mid Island Y and for ten years as an esteemed colleague and ultimately a member of the Senior Management Team of Sid Jacobson JCC from 2001-2011. During his tenure, he was our Director of Youth Services, Assistant Executive Director and the founding director of Camp Jacobson. In the intervening years, he became the Director for Buckley Day Camp and went on to become the first Director of Day Camp Initiatives for the Foundation for Jewish Camping, where his expertise assisted Jewish Day Camps.

Adam Grundfast

Assistant Camp Director

Adam’s lifelong involvement in camp along with his career experience over the last eleven years make him the ideal fit for this position. Most recently, he worked for two years at Camp Pontiac in Copake overseeing a group of middle school-aged boys, supervising campers across campus-wide activities, and in the training and development of camp counselors. Before that, Adam worked as a group leader, in the training and development of camp counselors, and across sales and marketing during his five years at Pierce Day Camp in Roslyn.  Adam will assist in the creation and implementation of strategic planning along with the overall program development and supervision of daily operations.

Marci Kamberg

Nursery Camp Director

Marci has spent the better part of her life at camps on Long Island.  She started attending camp at a young age until she was able to work at camp.  Marci worked her way up from CIT to group leader in a variety of camps throughout college and during her summers as a classroom teacher.  Most importantly, she has been at Camp Jacobson for the last 13 years, including being part of the leadership team as Nursery Camp Director for the last 4 years.  During the school  year, she is a preschool teacher at Sid Jacobson JCC in East Hills.

Shari Rich

Lower Camp Director

Shari is the Lower Camp Director at Camp Jacobson. As a lifelong camper, counselor, and group leader, Shari has literally grown up in camp! She has spent the last eight summers of her career at Camp Jacobson, starting in 2010 as the Inclusion Coordinator. Shari’s love for camp and children began before her time at Camp Jacobson. She has spent 26 years in the field of education as a Special Education Teacher. For 17 of those years, she taught in the Great Neck Public Schools and prior to that taught for the New York City Board of Education in Forest Hills, Queens. Shari looks forward to spending,  each day at camp watching the campers flourish as they explore new opportunities to discover their full potential.

Jessica Visvader

Upper Camp Director

Jessica joined Camp Jacobson in 2017 as a floating group leader. She quickly became a well-rounded member of the Camp Jacobson family and community, helping in all areas of camp alongside the leadership team, the group leaders and counselors. The following year, Jessica became the Upper Camp Director and continues to hold this position for the 2019 summer. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as certifications in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities.  During the year she is a full-time elementary school teacher in the city and a full-time mother to her daughter, Madison.  She is currently completing a second master’s degree in School Building Leadership. She adores working with the campers and their families to guarantee a wonderful camp experience for all. Jessica looks forward to implementing new activities and ideas at camp to make it an even greater summer this year.

Nicole Werner

Program Director & Special Events Coordinator

Nicole has been working at camps for most of her adult life. She started as a Group Leader, then progressed to a Dance and Drama specialist, then grew into the role of CIT director, and ultimately landed in her current role on the Camp Jacobson leadership team. Nicole has a bachelor’s degree in theater with a concentration in directing and stage craft.  During the year, she teaches at Sid Jacobson JCC’s preschool and is also the dance coordinator, where she runs a dance program for ages 2 through 2nd grade. She is a children director for SJJCC and is also an arts and crafts teacher. Nicole has her CDA (National Early Childhood Credentials) and is certified in adolescent mental health first aid.

Nikky Itenberg

Aquatics Director

Nikky Itenberg is the Aquatics Director of Camp Jacobson. In this role she manages our staff of certified lifeguards, develops the swim curriculum, and oversees our three heated pools. She has been a lifeguard for the past ten years and is certified in lifeguard instruction and water safety instruction. Nikky has also been working as a respite counselor with the nonprofit organization, Ohel Bais Ezra, for special needs children for the past ten years. In addition to her position at Camp Jacobson, Nikky is currently pursuing an associate’s degree from Queensborough College and will  receive her bachelor’s degree in marketing.

Jane Dornbush

Office Manager

Jane’s love of camp started at a very young age and has never waned. She spent her summers at day camp and then sleep away camp, and worked at several summer camps until she graduated college. Jane worked in the corporate interior design industry, ran a professional organizing business, and taught nursery school for several years prior to her role at Camp Jacobson. Jane’s children attended  Sid Jacobson JCC’s Early Childhood Center, and she and her husband have been members of SJJCC for decades. Her knowledge and experience brought her to Camp Jacobson, where she could be in a camp setting all year, be around kids and use her skills to help make our office run in the most welcoming and efficient way possible!

Lisa Gerson

Administrative Assistant

Lisa has been on the Camp Jacobson office staff since 2010 and loves being a part of the Camp Jacobson and SJJCC community, both as a staff member and as a parent! Prior to joining the Camp Jacobson team, Lisa was a High School math teacher in New York City. Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree from NYU.

Julie Bass


Julie oversees the day-to-day operations of Bernice Jacobson Day School & Camp. She comes to BJDSC with office and education experience, having worked as a lead teacher at the Friends Together Early Childhood Center. Julie holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Early Childhood Education, Birth-Grade 2 and Elementary Education, Grades 1-6, from Hofstra University.
