Marshall Kurland

ASSOCIATE EXECUTIVE Director

Marshall is the Director of Bernice Jacobson Day School and Camp and Associate Executive Director of Sid Jacobson JCC. He uses his experience in childcare and education to supervise a full complement of established on-site programs including Camp Jacobson, infant and toddler daycare and special events. Marshall oversees new programs in development, such as our full-service nursery school and Parenting Center. As a graduate of the Jewish Experiential Leadership Institute through JCC Association and an active member of American Camp Association, Marshall has spent 15 years in the camping world.

Lindsay Mauer

Acting Camp Director

Lindsay is the Acting Camp Director of Camp Jacobson and the Director of Youth Services at Sid Jacobson JCC. She is a lifelong camper and has been working in summer camps for over ten years, including four years at Camp Jacobson as Lower Camp Director. She was previously the Coordinator of Year Round Programs at Sunrise Day Camp, the only day camp in the nation for children with cancer and their siblings. Lindsay holds a Bachelor’s degree from Towson University where she majored in Family Studies and Community Development and earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Hunter College.

Charles Giegerich

Assistant Camp Director

Charles joined Camp Jacobson in 2016 as Assistant Camp Director, with an extensive background in education and camping experience. He started his camping career in 1997, and over a period of nineteen years, has progressed from Counselor to Division Leader to Camp Director. Charles holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in School Building Leadership, both from Mercy College.

Lizzie Benzie

Aquatics Director

Lizzie is the current Aquatics Director of both Camp Jacobson and Sid Jacobson JCC and has been a member of the Camp Jacobson family since 2009, where she began as an Assistant Teacher at Bernice Jacobson Day School. Lizzie is responsible for the growth of her staff and campers through the implementation and regulation of new programming. Lizzie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta.

Brandy Brooks, Psy.D.

Program Director

Brandy successfully rebuilt and ran the Positive Healthy Living (PHL) fitness program at Camp Jacobson; she brings her motivational skills and enthusiasm for camp, fitness and children to improve both the physical and mental health of our campers and staff. As the Program Director, Brandy will now help the team create, coordinate and further develop programs at Camp Jacobson. Brandy, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical and school psychologist, holding a Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University, a Doctorate in Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School at Yeshiva University, and postdoctoral fellowship training in child Neuro-Psychology at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Julie Bass

DAYCARE COORDINATOR

Julie oversees the day-to-day operations of Bernice Jacobson Day School. She comes to BJDS with office and education experience, having worked as a lead teacher at the Friends Together Early Childhood Center. Julie holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Early Childhood Education, Birth-Grade 2, and Elementary Education, Grades 1-6, from Hofstra University.
